Assistant Manager - Power Equipment Commissioning, Testing & System Integration
Engineering Department
Position Summary:
This position is required to manage, monitor and be responsible for all new equipment commissioning and the in service testing of this equipment. This position will also be responsible for all the training requirements of all employees within the Power department in respect to Capital projects and new maintenance initiatives. This position will also be responsible for the implementation of new and existing technologies being integrated into our existing infrastructure, which involve the Electric Traction, Substation and the Electric Traction Design departments. This position will be involved in the development of training programs, ensuring adequate training is provided in the repair and maintenance of all new and existing equipment that the Power department is responsible for. This position will interface with Consultants and Manufacturers in the development and oversight of these training programs ensuring our employees are properly trained in all new and existing equipment. This position will Manage and oversee the High Tension apprenticeship program and any other new programs which are subsequently developed. This position will also be required to manage, monitor and maintain all Power related ISO9002 records and certification of the Power Department.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associates degree in Engineering related field with substantial experience working in this field with similar types of equipment.
- Must have a thorough understanding of all Railroad Power systems, railroad electrical operations with a thorough background in electrical theory, a general understanding of all other Railroad Engineering disciplines including Track, Communications, Signal, B & B and how they interact with the Power department.Must have directly related experience in positions with increased responsibility including Substation testing and commissioning experience.
- Must possess effective oral and written communications skills, Power construction experience, and the ability to read and understand electrical construction drawings and methods, the capability of providing sketches on drawings relating to Power construction details.
- Proficient PC computer skills.
- Must have effective, proven problem solving, analytical, and leadership skills with the ability to interpret and read and understand designs.
Preferred/Desirable Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering related field.
