Assistant Manager - Grievance Investigations
Maintenance of Equipment Department
Position Summary:
This position is responsible to assist the Manager Maintenance of Equipment Trials, Investigations and Grievances in administering the labor agreements with respect to discipline and handling of grievances in the Maintenance of Equipment department and fostering positive union – management relations. Position is also responsible to assist with the oversight of departmental administrative functions including, but not limited to, training mandates and initiatives and payroll functions. This position is also responsible for maintaining internal control audits, and managing, processing and monitoring of Washington Job Protection Agreement claims.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Business/Labor Relations or related field. Demonstrated, directly related, recent administrative professional/management level experience may be considered in lieu of a degree requirement, subject to approval.
- Prior related experience administering collective bargaining agreements and related functions in a complex, unionized operations environment with ability to manage comprehensive grievance and claims investigations.
- Demonstrated effective, strong interpersonal, communications and organizational/administrative skills and ability to effectively interact with a high degree of professional maturity to build effective working relationships with both management and labor organizations.
- Ability to identify issues and potential challenges as well as recommend methods in which to solve problems. Must have sound judgment and strong analytical, investigating and research skills.
- Proficient PC skills i.e. (Microsoft Suite).
- Ability to effectively influence decisions to ensure fair and consistent application of union rules, agreements and company policies and procedures.
