Designer - Structures
Engineering Department
Position Summary:
Perform the daily activities required to successfully complete design tasks for stations, bridges, retaining walls, and any other areas applicable to civil disciplines under the jurisdiction of the Managing Engineer of Design. Prepare civil/structural drawings or architectural drawings including building renderings. Actively participate in creation and maintenance of a safe work environment following corporate and Engineering Department guidelines and safety policies.
Minimum Requirements:
- Background in Civil Engineering with knowledge of engineering principles and practices, or demonstrated equivalent.
- Experience working in design projects related to the railroad industry.
- Practical recent experience, either with engineering consultants and/or state/city agencies or successful completion of the Junior Engineer Training Program and demonstrated equivalent experience/education.
- Strong computer skills, with use of AutoCAD.
- Effective oral and written communication, organizational and analytical problem-solving skills.
Preferred/Desirable Skills/Qualifications:
- A Civil Engineering Degree or Architectural Degree.
- Experience within the LIRR Engineering Department.
- N.Y. State E.I.T. License or equivalent.
