Project Manager
Engineering/Construction Project Management Department
Responsibilities:
- Manage all related project management activities for force account project work.
- Manage projects to ensure they meet established schedules and budget criteria.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and all other required administration.
- Coordinate activities with other Railroad departments to assure that necessary reviews and inspections are performed.
- Coordinate activities of design consultants and construction management consultants.
- Resolve design and construction problems as applicable.
- Review changes and participate in change order negotiations. Approve invoices and other project changes.
- Coordinate various force account activity with third party vendors and CPM staff.
- All other assignments at the request of senior management.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Business/Finance or related field and progressively responsible related Engineering and/or construction management experience. In lieu of the degree requirement, directly related, progressively responsible experience in the field of manufacturing, project management and/or force account Engineering/Construction, in engineering operations and/or construction/force account supervision, demonstrating knowledge of railroad operating requirements with experience in project management, preferably with a Bachelor's Degree in progress may be considered.
- Experience must include accountability/responsibility towards a department budget.
- Knowledge of the construction industry (buildings, bridges, railroad facilities, civil, electrical, mechanical trades, signal, communications and power).
- Knowledge of scheduling and estimating for construction trades (all disciplines).
- Proficient computer application skills (Windows environment-Microsoft Office); business administration skills (report writing, letter writing, filing, meeting minutes and spreadsheets).
- Strong, effective leadership and management skills in order to lead and direct forces, develop the organization, including setting high standards of professional conduct. Ability to effectively motivate, develop and influence others in a positive and productive manner to meet department/corporate goals.
- Must possess strong human relations, communication, presentation, interpersonal, problem solving, decision-making, and judgment skills. Must demonstrate a high level of initiative, professional integrity and demeanor.
Preferred/Desirable Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- P. E. License.
- Familiarization with contract documents, specifications and plans.
- CSI, CDT, ACI, certification and EIT.
