Assistant Project Manager
Engineering/Construction Project Management Department
Responsibilities:
- Develop, review and coordinate elements of Engineering Force Account Projects for Engineering and Capital Program Management departments.
- Provide direction to contractors, consultants, in-house F/A staff, and represent the Engineering Department at consultant select committees and at various meetings. Manage the preparation of RFP's for the Engineering Department.
- Prepare reports, presentations, research and studies, run project meetings, prepare minutes, coordinate in-house and third-party interfaces, review and approve transmittals and various budget and administration reports.
- Manage the preparation of schedules, estimates and project controls. Work closely to interface project controls with F/A line departments on scope definition to ensure accurate estimates and schedules are maintained.
- Ensure that all Engineering force account estimates for all major construction activities are prepared completely and in an efficient manner.
- Monitor and analyze Engineering production and maintenance program.
- All other assignments at the request of senior management.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Business/Finance, or related field, and prior engineering/manufacturing/project management/force account/engineering and/or construction experience. In lieu of the degree requirement, directly-related practical and field experience in engineering/manufacturing or construction or force account engineering construction with ability to demonstrate project management skills or successful completion of the Junior Engineer Training Program and demonstrated equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of the construction industry (buildings, bridges, railroad facilities, civil, electrical, mechanical trades, signal, communications and power).
- Strong knowledge of scheduling and estimating for construction trades (all disciplines).
- Proficient computer application skills (Windows environment-Microsoft Office).
- Business administration skills (report writing, letter writing, filing, meeting minutes and spreadsheets).
- Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Proven leadership abilities, problem-solving, and decision making skills.
Preferred/Desirable Skills/Qualifications
- Prior supervisory experience.
