Signal Circuit Designer
Engineering Department
Position Summary:
To design and/or provide a thorough circuit analysis of the electrical circuits for the modification of the existing signal system or for the installation of a new signal system and thereby resulting in a signal system that is safe, reliable and more efficient for today’s train operations.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a minimum of five years related experience in circuit design pertaining to train operation.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering as applied to circuit operation, with a minimum of five years field experience and/or successful apprenticeship in circuit design.
- Thorough understanding of operating, FRA and safety rules relevant to their application to signaling (preferably 5-10 years experience).
- Basic knowledge of mechanical engineering and construction principles, as well as knowledge of electronics and computer skills
Preferred/Desirable Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience in design & checking vital railroad signal circuits for a Class I or major transit facility.
- Knowledge of application of signal components manufactured by major U.S. railroad signal equipment suppliers.
