New Schedule - May 21 - Added AM/PM Peak Service

New MTA Long Island Rail Road timetables take effect Monday, May 21.  The new schedules include additional morning and evening peak train service requested by customers on several branches. Various construction and track programs will affect train service on several branches during midday hours and some weekends.

Evening rush hour customers at Penn Station should be aware that the new schedule will mean many track changes.  Please listen for announcements before descending to the platforms.

Additional Train Service-AM Peak

(at 9:31 AM) will be added to the 8:55 AM off-peak train from Huntington.

(at 8:06 AM) will be added to the 7:19 AM train from Far Rockaway, which will depart one minute earlier at 7:18 AM. 

Additional Train Service-PM Peak

(at 7:13 PM) will be added to the 6:17 PM train from Jamaica to Montauk.

Construction and Track Programs
Main Line (affecting Hempstead Branch service:  Due to switch replacement work in the Queens Village area, weekend service on the Hempstead Branch, which operates through this area, will be disrupted during several weekends between May and September.  Further details of these service disruptions will be detailed in later news releases.
Due to switch replacement in the Jamaica area, weekend service will be affected on several weekends May to September.  Some Hempstead trains will have adjusted operating times by up to six minutes.  On July 28, buses will replace trains for 12 hours for Queens Village and Hollis customers.  Buses will also replace trains for Hempstead Branch customers on the weekend of August 4 and 5 and for 12 hours on September 18 and September 25.  Further details of these service disruptions will be detailed in later news releases.

Main Line (east of Ronkonkoma):  Due to track work between Riverhead and Greenport,  buses will replace two (one eastbound and one westbound) midday weekday train between Mattituck and Greenport. 

Babylon Branch:  Due to a track program between Rockville Centre and Freeport, midday westbound Babylon trains are adjusted up to four minutes earlier.  Eastbound midday trains are adjusted up to five minutes later.
Due to a track program between Amityville and Babylon on weekday overnights, two westbound trains will be adjusted three minutes earlier and five westbound trains will be adjusted 12 minutes earlier.  On weekend overnights, one westbound Babylon train will be adjusted three minutes earlier and one eastbound train six minutes later. 

Port Jefferson Branch:  Four midday weekday trains between Hicksville and Syosset will have schedules adjusted up to five minutes for a track work program.

Port Washington:  Six overnight weekend trains have schedules adjusted up to six minutes due to a track work program between Shea Stadium and Great Neck.
