New Schedule - May 21 - Added AM/PM Peak Service

New MTA Long Island Rail Road timetables take effect Monday, May 21. The new schedules include additional morning and evening peak train service requested by customers on several branches. Various construction and track programs will affect train service on several branches during midday hours and some weekends.

Evening rush hour customers at Penn Station should be aware that the new schedule will mean many track changes. Please listen for announcements before descending to the platforms.

Additional Train Service-AM Peak

An additional stop at Lynbrook (at 6:48 AM) will be added to the 6:27 AM train from Massapequa Park, which will depart one minute earlier at 6:26 AM. Two cars will be added to this train.
An additional stop at Hicksville (at 7:08 AM) will be added to the 6:49 AM train from Huntington to Hunterspoint Avenue, which will depart one minute earlier at 6:48 AM.
Additional stops at Merillon Avenue (at 9:28 AM) and New Hyde Park

(at 9:31 AM) will be added to the 8:55 AM off-peak train from Huntington.

Additional stops at Little Neck (at 7:09 AM) and Douglaston (at 7:12 AM) will be made by the 7:08 AM train from Great Neck, which will depart two minutes earlier at 7:06 AM.
An additional stop at Auburndale (at 7:31 AM) will be added to the 7:23 AM train from Little Neck, which will depart one minute earlier at 7:22 AM.
Additional stops at Locust Manor (at 7:46 AM) and Nostrand Avenue

(at 8:06 AM) will be added to the 7:19 AM train from Far Rockaway, which will depart one minute earlier at 7:18 AM.

Additional Train Service-PM Peak

The underused 5 PM train from Flatbush Avenue to Ronkonkoma will instead originate from Penn Station at 5:01 PM. There will be a 4:56 PM connection from Flatbush Avenue to accommodate Brooklyn customers.
Additional stops at Massapequa (at 8:16 PM), Massapequa Park (at 8:18 PM), Amityville (at 8:21 PM), Copiague (at 8:24 PM) and Lindenhurst (at 8:27 PM) will be added to the 7:30 PM train from Penn Station to Babylon.
Additional stops at Islip (at 7:06 PM), Great River (at 7:09 PM) and Oakdale

(at 7:13 PM) will be added to the 6:17 PM train from Jamaica to Montauk.

Additional stops at Nostrand Avenue (at 4:37 PM), Locust Manor (at 4:57 PM) and Laurelton (at 4:59 PM) will be added to the 4:32 PM train from Flatbush Avenue to Far Rockaway, which will now depart at 4:31 PM.

Added Late Evening Service

Two trains will be added to replace the 10:41 PM train from Penn Station. A new 10:23 PM train from Penn Station will stop at Jamaica, New Hyde Park and all stops to Huntington. A new train will leave Penn Station at 10:45 PM stopping at Jamaica, Hicksville and all stops to Ronkonkoma. This train will have a diesel train connection at Hicksville for customers traveling to stations from Syosset through Port Jefferson.

Added Summer Weekend Freeport Express Service

Three trains will be added to the Babylon Branch schedule on weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The trains will leave Penn Station at 7:51 AM, 9:51 AM and 11:51 AM. These trains will not only provide connections to Jones Beach buses at Freeport, but also at Jamaica for Montauk trains.

Added Cars

Additional cars will be added to several morning and evening peak trains to improve customer seating opportunities. The trains are: 5:35 AM from Long Beach, 7:28 AM from Cold Spring Harbor, 7:29 AM from Hicksville, 8:08 AM from Port Washington and the 6:03 PM from Penn Station to Far Rockaway.

Construction and Track Programs
Main Line (affecting Hempstead Branch service: Due to switch replacement work in the Queens Village area, weekend service on the Hempstead Branch, which operates through this area, will be disrupted during several weekends between May and September. Further details of these service disruptions will be detailed in later news releases.
Due to switch replacement in the Jamaica area, weekend service will be affected on several weekends May to September. Some Hempstead trains will have adjusted operating times by up to six minutes. On July 28, buses will replace trains for 12 hours for Queens Village and Hollis customers. Buses will also replace trains for Hempstead Branch customers on the weekend of August 4 and 5 and for 12 hours on September 18 and September 25. Further details of these service disruptions will be detailed in later news releases.

Main Line (east of Ronkonkoma): Due to track work between Riverhead and Greenport, buses will replace two (one eastbound and one westbound) midday weekday train between Mattituck and Greenport.

Babylon Branch: Due to a track program between Rockville Centre and Freeport, midday westbound Babylon trains are adjusted up to four minutes earlier. Eastbound midday trains are adjusted up to five minutes later.
Due to a track program between Amityville and Babylon on weekday overnights, two westbound trains will be adjusted three minutes earlier and five westbound trains will be adjusted 12 minutes earlier. On weekend overnights, one westbound Babylon train will be adjusted three minutes earlier and one eastbound train six minutes later.

Port Jefferson Branch: Four midday weekday trains between Hicksville and Syosset will have schedules adjusted up to five minutes for a track work program.

Port Washington: Six overnight weekend trains have schedules adjusted up to six minutes due to a track work program between Shea Stadium and Great Neck.
