RENAISSANCE STREET SINGERS Since 1973, the Renaissance Street Singers of New York, directed by John Hetland, have sung 15th and 16th Century music 'a cappella' on the sidewalks and in the public spaces of New York. Their repertoire is polyphonic motets, hymns, magnificats, Psalms, mass sections, and other sacred music by Dufay, Ockeghem, Josquin, Senfl, Palestrina, Byrd, Victoria, and Cardoso, and their contemporaries. The motivation is a love for this music and the wish to share it with others. Concerts are usually held two or three Sundays a month from 2 to 4 pm and are always free.
