Matt Nozzolio
Matt Nozzolio is a veteran bluegrass and folk musician. As a solo lap-style guitarist and dobro player, he brings fresh interpretations to older country, bluegrass, and blues music from performers including Jimmie Rodgers, Cliff Carlisle, Roy Acuff, the Carter Family and others, in addition to his own compositions.
Matt is a former member of Amy Gallatin and Stillwaters, which toured Europe in 1996 and 1998. In addition to his solo work, Matt plays with the New England bands Charter Oak Bluegrass, the Remnants, and Horizon Blue and is a member of the Derby, Connecticut, Griffin Hospital Arts and Entertainment program.
Matt exclusively plays the guitar lap-style, using a metal bar or slide. The technique, developed in the late 1800s by Hawaiian musicians, was adapted in the 20th century by blues, bluegrass, and country musicians.
